Ilya Gringolts can be heard as a solo recitalist, in a trio and with orchestra in Tongyeong.
On 30 March, he will perform a selection of Paganini's 24 Caprices for solo violin alongside Sciarrino's Capricci and works by Bach and Johann Paul von Westhoff. The trio concert with horn player Haeree Yoo and pianist Yekwon Sunwoo on 3 April will feature works by Abrahamsen, Beethoven, Schumann and Brahms.
On 4 April, Sibelius' violin concerto in its original version will be performed in a concert with the KBS Symphoy Orchestra under Ilan Volkov. Sibelius composed this first version of the violin concerto in 1903 for Willy Burmester, who had to cancel the premiere due to scheduling reasons when it was moved from Berlin to Helsinki; the premiere of the technically highly demanding work with the new soloist was not very successful, and Sibelius created a shortened new version in the following years. This reduced version was performed exclusively until the early 1990s. It is only in recent decades that the original version has been heard in the concert hall again.
