Per Erik Veng

grew up in Fakse, Denmark and studied German and musicology at the University of Copenhagen. In 1980 he joined Danish Radio as Executive Producer, responsible for contemporary and early music as well as opera; he also appeared as a moderator in numerous television and radio broadcasts.

From 1989 to 2007 he was Artistic Director and General Manager of the DR (Danish National Symphony Orchestra and Choirs). During his tenure, the orchestras, now the best known in Denmark, developed an international profile. He was knigthed by HM The Queen of Denmark in 1997.

From 2008 to 2010 he held a position on the management team of the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. In 2010, he moved to the diplomatic service, first as Minister Counsellor for culture, media and Public diplomacy in Berlin and, until 2018, as Director of the Danish Cultural Institute in Brussels.

He continues to serve on several boards and performs advisory tasks for, among others, the Ministries of Culture of Norway and Denmark, the Bergen Festival, the Oslo Opera House, the cultural centre Malmö Live, the baroque orchestra Concerto Copenhagen, and the Danish state label dacapo.

In Germany, he was and is, among others, a consultant for the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Usedom Music Festival and, since 2018, for Karsten Witt Musik Management.
