In his first opera, Bernard Foccroulle demonstrates an astonishing compositional cosmopolitanism that is at the service of a musical theatre both committed to the present and thoroughly entertaining. Cassandra is a climate researcher who becomes an activist in the face of melting polar ice. The Lindenoper is bringing the acclaimed world premiere production, which opened the last season at the Brussels opera house La Monnaie, to Berlin.
Bernard Foccroulle is recognised as an important organist, who has made a name for himself above all with his benchmark recordings of Bach and Buxtehude, as well as a committed and highly successful opera director. From 1992 to 2007, he directed the Brussels opera house La Monnaie/De Munt and from 2007 to 2018 the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence. Since then, he has focussed entirely on his compositional work.
