"You have perhaps never heard it so beautifully", raves reviewer Markus Stäbler about the D Minor Quartet. On NDR Kultur, where Vol. 5 of the complete recording was presented as CD of the Week, he sums up: "The recording captivates in every piece. The Armida Quartet combines energy and precision, attention to detail and original ideas - and sets new standards for Mozart's chamber music with its complete recording."
The recently released album forms the final component of the quartet's complete collection of Mozart recordings, which will be reissued in a special box set in the autumn. Each of the volumes combines well-known Mozart quartets with less frequently performed works. Together with manuscript expert Wolf-Dieter Seiffert, the quartet has analysed the individual parts of the original manuscripts and compared them with previously printed editions. Parallel to the recording, the Armida Quartet produced the new four-volume Urtext edition published by Henle (

The Armida Quartet is now being awarded an
Opus Klassik for the fourth part of the complete recording, which itself received outstanding reviews when it appeared. The award ceremony will take place on 9 October in Berlin.
