The digital version of the album, released by the Norwegian label 2L, has been available since June, and now you can hold it in your hands. The three singers of the Trio Mediaeval connect with traditions of singing at home, in the family, and in private spaces - traditions often only passed down orally which freely handle the material: "When we sing a hymn or a lullaby we become a link in a chain that began in the unknowable past and will stretch into the infinite future: a timeless continuum of solace and comfort."
Mats Eilertsen on bass and Trygve Seim on saxophone can also be heard as partners in the interpretation of the old, traditionally freely arranged hymns as well as the newly composed lullabies by Anders Jormin and Sinikka Langeland.
Solacium
As promised by its title, the new CD of Trio Mediaeval provides comfort: Solacium combines lullabies, hymns, and chorales from the Nordic countries with newly composed works.
