In November 2020, the label Neos Remixed released the new CD of the GrauSchumacher Piano Duo with Johannes Brahms' Sonata for two pianos, Richard Wagner's Prelude and Isolde's Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde as well as Claude Debussy's Trois Nocturnes. The two pianists explain the CD title in an interview:
"Remixed is actually a composition that appears in a new sound garment”. While in the case of Wagner's composition, Max Reger provided for this new garb with his version for two pianos, in Debussy's Nocturnes Maurice Ravel is the creator of the transcription. "This is very exciting, because this altered sonority due to the re-instrumentation brings to light different contents and different structures, different emphases of the musical material," Andreas Grau said in a musical interview on SWR2.
The pianists were guests in Schwetzingen in October 2020 with the Brahms Sonata, which was composed, so to speak, as a forerunner piece of the famous Piano Quintet, and itself made from material from a string quintet. The recording of their concert can still be listened to at swr.de.
