The CD released at the end of 2023, for which the Armida Quartet recorded clarinet quintets by Johanna Senfter and her teacher Max Reger together with Kilian Herold, was included on the longlist of the German Record Critics' Award and has already received several enthusiastic reviews.
Concerti magazine wrote about the recording made for the CAvi label in co-operation with SWR 2: "In addition to the programming, the new album is above all artistically convincing. The ensemble encounters the tonal language of the late Reger quintet in a versatile way, especially in the variation movement at the end, where cheerfulness and melancholy perform a constant pas de deux."
For Fono Forum, music critic Burkhard Schäfer found that the already dizzyingly high standard for interpretations of Reger's work had now been raised even higher: "Every detail, no matter how small, really 'speaks' here. The musicians make the quasi-self-referential unity of the work, in which every note corresponds with every other, so delightfully comprehensible that it takes one's breath away."
The album was presented as a "real enrichment" in the series Hörstoff on WDR 3 radio.
