Together with Franziska Hölscher on the violin, Gregor Sigl and Lily Francis on the viola and Clemens and Julia Hagen on the cello, Ilya Gringolts has just returned from a tour of Italy; now the star soloists are bringing the concert evening centred around Schönberg's chamber music milestone to concert halls in Germany and to Amsterdam.
Together with Schönberg's Sextet Verklärte Nacht, the concerts feature the original programme of its world premiere in March 1902: a string quartet by Schönberg's contemporary Hermann Grädener and the String Quintet No. 1 by Johannes Brahms will be heard.
The programme will be performed in four further concerts in spring 2025, including at the Wiener Konzerthaus.
Ilya Gringolts will also return to the Elbphiharmonie on 9 December following the Schönberg concert on 8 December. He will then perform György Kurtág's Kafka Fragmente together with soprano Johanna Vargas.
