In colloquial language, the physical concept of entropy is often explained as a ‘measure of disorder.’ This does not refer to chaos, but rather to an irreversible process of densification and interconnection.
Samir Odeh-Tamimi uses the term as the starting point for his new solo work for Vanessa Porter. Andrei Cucu will be responsible for sound direction at the premiere during the ECLAT festival on 6 February. A multitude of voices, languages and sounds are condensed in the work, referring to contemporary social realities such as migration, multilingualism and digital networking. In conjunction with video projections, the contrasting elements form a polyrhythmic and multisensory performance.
Samir Odeh-Tamimi's composition Aufbruch (Departure) for string orchestra will receive its French premiere the following day at the Montpellier Opera House. The work, composed in 2008, will be performed as part of the Exils #2 concert with the Orchestre National Montpellier Occitanie under Vitali Alekseenok.
