In mid-October, the club Porgy & Bess in Vienna and the Budapest Music Centre will each present two-day portrait events celebrating Lukas Ligeti's 60th birthday and showcasing his range as a composer and improviser.

The programme includes premieres of Thinking Songs for marimba solo with Caitlin Jones, Moving Houses and Entasis for string quartet with the Mivos Quartet, as well as Six Arpeggiators, La parole seule (with soprano Julie Vercauteren) and Aquifères (premiere of the new version) with the Hopper Ensemble. Lukas Ligeti will give a solo concert with the electronic instrument Marimba Lumina and can be heard on percussion with his trio Hypercolor. Special guests include Eyal Maoz on guitar and James Ilgenfritz on double bass, as well as Khadijah Pamelia Stickney on theremin in Vienna and Kornél Fekete-Kovács on trumpet in Budapest.
