For her performances of George Benjamin’s chamber opera Into the Little Hill with the Ensemble intercontemporain at the Festival Ravel, and previously at the Théâtre de Caen and the Teatro del Canal in Madrid, Jenny Daviet was in close contact with the composer on several occasions.
Further performances of this multi-layered chamber opera with the EIC are now scheduled in Tokyo. Like her stage partner, contralto Joanne Evans, Jenny Daviet takes on various roles for this production, each demanding a different set of vocal skills. The chamber opera, which premiered in 2006, will be performed in Tokyo as its Japanese premiere.
Jenny Daviet has already appeared with the Ensemble intercontemporain several times this season: in November she performed Berio’s Sequenza III and Orgia by Héctor Parra in Paris, followed in the spring by Kurtág’s Kafka Fragments to mark the composer's 100th birthday.
