Roland Kluttig with Wozzeck in Essen

Roland Kluttig will conduct Alban Berg's opera Wozzeck in six performances at the Aalto Theatre from 25 May to 6 July, making his debut with the Essen Philharmonic.

Alban Berg's work, which premiered almost 100 years ago, will be presented in Essen in a new production by Martin G. Berger. In the past, Roland Kluttig, who is particularly fond of Alban Berg's works, has conducted Wozzeck very successfully at the Norrlandsoperan in Sweden.

In 2019, Wergo released a portrait CD including Anssi Karttunen’s recordings of Hans Werner Henze’s English Love Songs with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Oliver Knussen.
