Shostakovich's Opus 35 is usually referred to as his 1st Piano Concerto, but was originally conceived by the composer as a trumpet concerto and then expanded into a double concerto for piano, trumpet and strings. It will be performed on tour by the Australian Chamber Orchestra under Richard Tognetti in a programme juxtaposing works by Bach and Shostakovich at the Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, as part of the Bach Festival at the Liederhalle Stuttgart and at the Barbican Centre London.
