On a European tour with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Jeroen Berwaerts will perform Shostakovich as a soloist alongside Alexander Melnikov in Amsterdam (11 March), Stuttgart (19 March) and London (21 March).

Shostakovich's Opus 35 is usually referred to as his 1st Piano Concerto, but was originally conceived by the composer as a trumpet concerto and then expanded into a double concerto for piano, trumpet and strings. It will be performed on tour by the Australian Chamber Orchestra under Richard Tognetti in a programme juxtaposing works by Bach and Shostakovich at the Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, as part of the Bach Festival at the Liederhalle Stuttgart and at the Barbican Centre London.
