Classical:NEXT opens its doors on April 8 in Budapest with a concert programme that is as diverse as it is forward-looking. Classical:NEXT 2026 will open in one of Europe’s most magnificent concert halls: the historic Liszt Academy in Budapest. The opening concert brings together Hungary’s rich musical heritage with its vibrant contemporary scene in a programme spanning works from Franz Liszt to Péter Eötvös. The concert features outstanding artists who are equally well-known on Hungarian and international stages, including pianist Gábor Farkas, violinists Barnabás Kelemen and Katalin Kokas, cimbalom virtuoso Miklós Lukács, cellist Ditta Rohmann, trumpeter Kornél Fekete-Kovács, and the Modern Art Orchestra.
The showcase concerts featuring international musicians on 9 and 10 April are also being organised by karsten witt musik management. Most of them will take place at the Budapest Music Centre. The showcase programmes will accompany the major networking event, which is coming to Budapest for its thirteenth edition. Around 1,000 trade visitors from 50 countries across all continents represent every sector of the classical music world – the live sector, labels and the education sector. Label managers, presenters, agents, artists, publishers and representatives of institutions will gather in Budapest. The focus is not only on traditional networking, but above all on discussing new, cross-disciplinary approaches for the future.
Karsten Witt is one of the partners in the limited company founded to reorient Classical:NEXT, which brought the project to Berlin in 2024 and 2025 and is now implementing it in Budapest.
