The album by the Kuss Quartet, released by the Berlin label eda records, is the first ever recording of works by the composer, who was born in 1901 and later became vice-president of the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre. Ernst Gernot Klussmann was a central figure in Hamburg's musical life for many years. The two early chamber music works impressively illustrate his path from late Romanticism to Expressionism, which he continued after the war in intensive collaboration with Arnold Schönberg.
The International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) were established in 2010 by the jury of the former MIDEM Classical Awards. The jury consists of 19 music critics representing radio stations, internet and print magazines from 15 different countries.
We warmly congratulate the Kuss Quartet on winning the ICMA in the category 'premiere recording'! The winners will receive their trophies at the annual awards ceremony, which will take place at the Keilberth Hall in Bamberg on 18 March 2026.
