The eponymous trio piece Sounds, Archeologies, premiered at the Ultraschall Festival in Berlin in 2018 and most recently featured in the programmes of Wien Modern in 2023 and Musikfest Berlin in 2024, questions the proximity or distance of historical objects and cultural identities. The solo works turning around for piano and Le Corps des cordes were premiered in 2013.
‘Figura is a composition about how one thing manifests itself in another, how it is a hint or a trace or a renewed form,’ says Isabel Mundry about the work for two trumpets, which premiered in its final version at the Eclat Festival in 2022 and at Musikfest Berlin in 2024.
The album concludes with the ensemble work Das Rohe und das Geformte III (The Raw and the Shaped III), composed in 2010 and revised in 2016.
The Ascolta ensemble will celebrate the new recording on 30 November with a CD release party: starting at 6.30 pm, the ensemble will play excerpts from the album at the Theaterhaus Stuttgart. Pianist and composer Kaan Bulak will appear on stage as a special guest.
