With his powerful and clear musical language, Christian Øland is one of the most sought-after Scandinavian conductors of the younger generation. He moves with great ease between different styles, genres and eras: from Haydn and Beethoven to Nordic classics, 20th-century works and the latest compositions by contemporary composers.
After being accepted into the conducting class at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki at the age of 18 and shortly afterwards becoming assistant to Hannu Lintu at the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, he conducted the major orchestras in the Nordic countries at a young age.
In the current season, Christian Øland took up two new positions, becoming chief conductor of the Danish Philharmonic Orchestra and general music director of the Magdeburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
We warmly welcome Christian Øland and look forward to accompanying his career from now on!
