From the opening concert with the NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra Hannover on 13 June, featuring the world premiere of a festival overture by Johannes Fischer and Spohr’s Concerto in A minor for string quartet and orchestra, Op. 131, right through to the “French Finale” on 6 September with pianist Kit Armstrong – the Armida Quartet is (almost) omnipresent in ther northern German federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania this summer.
The quartet is presenting a cross-section of the string quartet repertoire in a wide variety of formats, but has also developed entirely new programmes especially for this occasion and is performing at some rather unusual concert venues throughout the state. The list of exciting musical encounters to look forward to is correspondingly extensive – among others, the Armida Quartet will perform with the tango quartet Cuarteto SolTango and clarinettist Sebastian Manz, with baritone Benjamin Appl, with violist German Tcakulov and cellist Harriet Krijgh, with Matthias Schorn (clarinet), Nils Mönkemeyer (viola) and William Youn (piano), with jazz pianist Johanna Summer, as well as with the GrauSchumacher Piano Duo and actor Ulrich Noethen.
