Congratulations to Johannes Klumpp, Thomas Fey and the Heidelberger Sinfoniker! The completion of their complete recording of all Haydn symphonies on 36 CDs, released on the Hänssler label, is crowned with an OPUS KLASSIK in the Symphonic Recording of the Year category.
The most important prize for classical music in Germany is awarded by an independent jury of eleven experts from the music and media industry. The OPUS KLASSIK 2025 will be awarded on the weekend of 10 to 12 October 2025 in Berlin.
As Artistic Director of the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra, Johannes Klumpp has brilliantly completed a project in recent years, which began in 1999 with Vol. 1 of the Haydn Symphonies. Under the direction of orchestra founder Thomas Fey, the master's later symphonies were initially recorded. After Thomas Fey's tragic accident in 2014, the project came to a standstill and was continued by Johannes Klumpp in 2020 - he made particular use of the coronavirus period, during which performances were not possible, for the recordings.
"This 'wild' Heidelberg Haydn, played on modern instruments in the spirit of historically informed performance practice, is a revelation!" (Südwest-Presse)
