The grand opening of the Musikforum was marked by a performance of
Mahler’s First Symphony as well as the premiere of Stefan Heucke’s
cantata, Baruch ata Adonaij – Gesegnet seist du, Herr,
performed by the Bochumer Symphoniker under Steven Sloane alongside
baritone Martijn Cornet, massed choirs from Bochum and the Ruhr region
and pupils from the Bochum Music School, which is situated in the new
building.
In 2016, the Bochumer Symphoniker and their long-standing Music Director Steven Sloane celebrated a milestone with the opening of their long-awaited new home, the Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr.
In 2019, Wergo released a portrait CD including Anssi Karttunen’s recordings of Hans Werner Henze’s English Love Songs with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Oliver Knussen.
