The Orchestre national de Cannes has appointed Holly Hyun Choe as its new music director. The conductor will take up this position from the 2026/27 season for an initial four seasons, which she will shape alongside Directeur général Jean-Marie Blanchard.
The appointment follows two guest engagements that brought Holly Hyun Choe to Cannes in the previous seasons. The next opportunity for audiences on the Côte d'Azur to experience the young conductor will be in March 2026: in addition to Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1 (soloist: Luka Coetzee), the programme will include works by Grażyna Bacewicz and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In spring 2026, Holly Hyun Choe will then present her first season with the orchestra.
Since its founding in 1975, the Orchestre national de Cannes has cultivated an extensive repertoire ranging from the 17th century to the present day. Through its involvement in the city and region, its appeal throughout France and its presence on the radio, the Orchestre national de Cannes is an important cultural player in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region and beyond.
