On 1 February, Titus Engel will conduct the eagerly awaited world premiere of Olga Neuwirth's opera Monster's Paradise. Following six performances in Hamburg, the work, based on a libretto by Elfriede Jelinek and directed by Tobias Kratzer, will be staged at the Zurich Opera House.

Pianist and composer Olli Mustonen will perform his piano quintet, among other works, at the closing concert of the String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam on 31 January; his Nonetto I will also be featured at the Muziekgebouw.

Following the performance of all six Mozart string quintets at the Heidelberg Spring Festival, Ilya Gringolts explained to us what attracts him to historical instruments and why the Gringolts Quartet will continue to play on gut strings more frequently in the future.
