Roland Kluttig conducts Janáček's opera Katja Kabanova in Graz from March 18 to May 14. The new production is staged by a young, award-winning team of directors.

In 2021, Anika Rutkofsky (direction), Eleni Konstantatou (stage), Marie Sturminger (costumes) and Johanna Danhauser (dramaturgy) celebrated a great success with their production of Don Giovanni, for which they won the Ring Award, the only international musical theatre competition for direction and stage design.

Accordingly, one can be curious to see how the team looks at Leoš Janáček's Katja Kabanova. The three-act opera revolves around the passions and longings of its complex main character, who perishes because of the patriarchal norms she has internalised.

On the podium of the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra, chief conductor Roland Kluttig conducts Janáček's work, which transfers the Czech linguistic style into the music in a special way. It will be presented in the original language with German subtitles.
