Johannes Maria Staud is awarded the Austrian Art Prize 2022.

The Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Public Service and Sport (BMKÖS) has announced the winners of the Austrian Art Award 2022, each endowed with 15,000 euros. In addition to Johannes Maria Staud in the field of music, Ines Doujak (visual arts), Christiana Perschon (film), Lisl Sharp-Ponger (artistic photography), Margot Pilz (media art), Thomas Stangl (literature) and Willy Puchner (children's and youth literature) as well as the toxic dreams collective in the field of performing arts and the Lalish association in the field of cultural initiatives will be awarded with prizes.

The Art Prize is awarded to established artists for their multi-faceted, internationally recognised comprehensive works. The award winners are selected by independent juries of experts. The award, which was called the Würdigungspreis until 2009, is one of the state prizes of the Republic of Austria.
