"Drastic and clear" - "strong and accurate": Johannes Klumpp received enthusiastic reviews for his conducting of the two opera premieres From a House of the Dead and The Makropulos Affair on April 30 at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden. The Janáček double bill was performed again in May; individually, the operas will be shown until July.

"Guest conductor Johannes Klumpp's approach of developing Janáček's scores sharply out of their small musical cells, fading out as best as possible any late Romantic resonance with drasticness and clarity, penetrates strongly and aptly to the core of the musical dramas," the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper said of Johannes Klumpp's conducting.
