Richard Strauss' opera premiered in 1911 - after Elektra the second collaboration of the congenial author duo Hugo von Hofmannsthal and Richard Strauss. The state theatre in Wiesbaden is presenting a production directed by Nicolas Brieger, who brings to the stage "a society that no longer has any ground beneath its feet: not in music, not in dance and not in the social itself," according to the Wiesbadener Kurier.
Johannes Klumpp conducts Richard Strauss' Rosenkavalier at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden until June 16.
