On 23 and 24 February, Hyung-ki Joo will perform Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini and Paganini Variations by Lutoslawski with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Tarmo Peltokoski.

At the concerts in Rēzekne (February 23) and Riga (February 24), the pianist can be heard performing Sergei Rachmaninoff's Variations on a theme from the last of Paganini's 24 Capricci for solo violin. According to Rachmaninoff's own information, this brilliant work is based on a programme, namely the legend according to which Paganini sold his soul to the devil in his desire for perfection on his instrument and success with women.
